We have recently received a copy of a painting of Martha Thornley the wife of Joseph Thornley, from one of her descendents Mrs Marsha de Thornley Head. Joseph Thornley was an owner of the Red Hall in Audenshaw village and a founder of Red Hall Chapel.

Jill Wood of Audenshaw was recently walking on the Moss (or what’s left of it) and noticed some piles of earth excavated during the construction of the football pitch for Brendon Bees. She noticed various objects unearthed by the bulldozers, and took them home for closer examination.
They appear to be Victorian in origin, pieces of flat old thick glass, pieces of glass bottles, oyster shells, marrow bones, kitchen jars and painted china.
Unfortunately before anything else could be unearthed the bulldozer returned to cover the site.
